Everyone is Welcome!

El Museo ¡Ajá! is a different kind of space: it offers workshops, film screenings, and conferences about current global and national issues and an opportunity to actively participate.

“Some people will tell me that I am losing, but I say that it takes time, and you just need to figure out how to manifest peace. Peace is a given possibility for each one of us, which doesn’t mean you will do it. But it does mean you can do it. You are a human being, therefore you can be humane.”
- Marta Benavides

The museum is a project of the Benavides-Marroquín family honoring the memory of Theodore Benavides and Eva Marroquín de Benavides.  They dreamed of a world without hunger, cultured people, committed to global and planetary citizenship, leading to true freedom by culture, a culture of peace in El Salvador and throughout the world.

The
Benavides-Marroquín family realizes this commitment in cooperation with Siglo XXIII and Marta Benavides, one of the six Salvadorans honored by the international women's movement in the select group of 1000 Peace Women for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2005, coordinates the work of this organization.
